What are the regulations for outdoor pig farming?

From 50 equivalent animals, all outdoor farms, whether conventional or organic, must comply with the regulations for “installations classified for environmental protection.”

The ministerial decrees of December 27, 2013, applicable to farms subject to declaration, registration, and authorization, describe the technical requirements applicable to outdoor farms. The main provisions of these decrees for outdoor pig runs are as follows:

Land suitable for supporting animals in all seasons, maintained in good condition and sufficiently permeable to prevent water stagnation;
All precautions are taken to prevent the direct runoff of mud and polluted water towards watercourses, public areas, and third-party land;
The runs are grassy when established, treed, and maintained in good condition. All arrangements are made for the layout of the runs to encourage their use over their entire surface by the animals;
The rotation of used plots operates according to the nature of the soil and the degradation of the land. The same plot must not be occupied for more than 24 continuous months. Plots must be restored to good condition at each rotation by appropriate cultural practices;
For breeding animals, the density does not exceed 15 animals per hectare, with piglets until weaning not being counted;
The watering and feeding areas are arranged or moved as often as necessary to prevent the formation of muddy areas;
