CABI Sun, the single-slope photovoltaic (PV) livestock building that produces solar energy

We have designed the first single-slope photovoltaic livestock building in kit form to combine poultry farming with renewable electricity generation.

The structure of the building has been designed to withstand the weight of the panels and thus meets installer requirements.

The building’s design allows you to secure your income and improve your return on investment by selling the electricity produced or using it at a lower price than the market rate.

It supports the production of local, renewable energy. It’s a reputational asset to promote to your customers and promotes sustainable development.

Like our CABI Moov chicken coop, it’s part of a time-saving and self-sufficiency approach for farmers.

FAQ Frequently Asked Questions

Is the CABI SUN photovoltaic barn more complicated to assemble?

No. Like all our buildings, the front and rear gables are pre-assembled in the workshop, and the intermediate arches are welded, so the remaining assembly is easy.

Are the panels a risk to livestock farming?

No. The magnetic field emitted by the solar panels is compatible with livestock farming. In fact, at a distance of 1 metre from the panels, the magnetic field is below the permanent exposure limit set by regulations, as the panels generate low-voltage direct current.

Is the orientation of the photovoltaic poultry house important?

Yes. When installing a chicken coop, it is crucial to identify the direction of the prevailing winds to ensure good natural ventilation through the hatches in the house. To optimise electricity production, a southerly orientation is the most favourable, but south-west and south-east orientations offer perfectly acceptable levels of efficiency. The lower the roof pitch, the less the effect of orientation on production.
