For more than 20 years now, CABI has been offering you the opportunity to produce your own feed on-farm. The CABI on-farm feed mill allows you to produce your own feed by using your own grain production and adding supplements of your choice. This allows you to manage your own formulas according to your livestock and the growth of your animals, but also to know the quality of all the components of the feed you give them. The CABI feed mill adapts to all types of livestock (poultry, ducks, sheep, goats, cattle, pigs…) and all types of use.

The design of your installation may include a flaker/roller mill, a grinder and a mixer, or each piece of equipment separately.

The flaker simply flattens and avoids creating too many fines; it is recommended for use with ruminants.

The design of our flaker/roller mill allows it to start under load and to flatten mixed cereals or grain mixtures.

As for the grinder, it will break the grain more or less coarsely. You will get a finer result which will be more suitable for poultry or pigs. It is of very robust construction.

We can achieve throughputs up to 2 tons/hour depending on the grain.

We define the installation together to adapt to your needs and the desired feed for your animals.

Both pieces of equipment can be installed in parallel to have a very adaptable and very precise installation depending on the grains you wish to use.

The mixer will ensure homogeneity of the feed mixtures.

Finally, we adapt the level of automation to your use, from manual control to fully automated. We can manage multiple product inputs, create multiple recipes, automate hatches and program the feed production time to take advantage of off-peak hours.

Our touchscreen in the automated version is very practical and intuitive, making your life easier.

In addition to the feed mill, CABI’s major strength is being able to equip you with CABI storage silos (indoor grain silo and outdoor grain silo) to store your raw materials or finished product. CABI can also equip you with distribution augers (rigid grain auger and flexible grain auger) to feed the mill or to distribute feed to buffer storage or conveyors, DACs, milking robots, milking parlors…

Our installation is designed by your sales advisor with support from the design office, then manufactured and delivered from our site.

Why choose a horizontal mixer?

The horizontal mixer allows you to obtain a more homogeneous mix than a vertical mixer. Indeed, with a vertical mixer, the densest products will generally settle at the bottom. With the horizontal mixer, the effect of gravity is minimal and therefore the mixing quality will be better.

How much does the CABI on-farm feed mill consume?

To produce one ton of feed, you can expect consumption between 5 and 6 kW.

What is the difference between a flaker and a grinder?

The flaker has notched and helical rollers and flattens the grain while avoiding the creation of fines. It flattens all types of cereals and protein crops (peas, fava beans…), and is very effective for processing mixed cereals. It has the advantage, due to its design, of being able to start under load. The grinder breaks the grain using a more or less fine screen. It can also process all types of cereals and protein crops (peas, fava beans…). The flaker/roller mill is often used for producing feed for ruminants (cattle, sheep) because it avoids breaking the grain too much and makes it more digestible. Flaking instead of fine grinding slows down the rate of starch degradation and thus the massive production of acids that cause acidosis in ruminants. The grinder is suitable for pigs and poultry.
